In summer 2025, we’re launching a guided tour in Tylösand that takes you along the beach, past the lifeguard tower, scenic viewpoints, rhododendron blooms, and tales of smugglers. Tylösand Beach External link, opens in new window. has been named Sweden’s best beach several times and is the crown jewel of Halmstad’s many beaches. Here, you’re guaranteed refreshing swims and golden sun. On hot summer days, the beach, which stretches over four kilometers, fills with happy visitors. If you prefer a bit more space, walk north toward Frösakull and Ringenäs External link, opens in new window. or find a quiet spot in the dunes.

Lifeguards in Tylösand
Halmstad takes great pride in its lifeguards. Every day from Midsummer to mid-August, they’re on duty in Tylösand to keep swimmers safe – something that’s been happening since 1960.
Tylösand was the first beach in Sweden to have professional lifeguards, and it’s still a center for lifesaving in the country today. After Beach at Solgården
After Beach
What better way to end a beach day than with live music? Solgården, the hotel’s outdoor amphitheater, is set between the dunes and the hotel. Art and cars
Hotel Tylösand is home to Sweden’s largest gallery by area and one of the country’s best-known photo art collections. Wherever you go in the hotel, world-famous artists and photos await. Tres Hombres Art Gallery External link, opens in new window. was founded in the late ’80s by Per Gessle and Lars Nordin, with the idea of filling the hotel’s 23,000 square meters with art. The collection now includes about 400 pieces.
The hotel also features The Joyride Car Collection, External link, opens in new window. a permanent exhibit in The Front House showcasing rare cars from Per and Åsa Gessle’s private collection – mostly rare Ferraris.

St. Olof’s Chapel
St. Olof’s Chapel is a wooden church from 1721 with beautiful original ceiling paintings and a unique, rich history. Its peaceful interior is used for weddings, baptisms, funerals, and services, but it’s also a popular visitor spot with a summer café and concerts in a scenic setting. Nestled among pine trees, Halmstad Golf Club External link, opens in new window. offers two top-class 18-hole courses. The north course is regularly ranked as one of Sweden’s best and loved by both low and high handicappers. It offers great variety and flow. The south course favors precision over power. The lighthouse on Tylön
Tylön Nature Reserve
Tylön, External link, opens in new window. the only island in southern Halland, is a protected nature reserve. Mostly covered in heath and grassland, it’s a haven for birdlife. A tall lighthouse and old keeper’s cottages also stand here. Because of sensitive wildlife, most of the island is closed to visitors from April 1 to July 15. Getting here and moving on
To reach the next stop along the Prince Bertil Trail, you can follow the path north along the beach. At Nyrebäcken, the trail heads inland toward Möllegård. If you’re heading toward the city, go west and around Tyludden toward Grötvik.
Public Transportation
Tylösand is accessible via Hallandstrafiken. External link, opens in new window. There are three bus stops: Tylösand, Tylösand Tylöhusvägen, and Tylösand Harstigen. You can catch a bus from downtown Halmstad – either from Stora Torg or Resecentrum.
